This week I received a package in the post and it was one of those times where you forget you’re expecting something so it’s extra-extra good. If you didn’t see my snapchat story (eleanorfay92) this morning already, the package came from williamandwatson.com an industrial-lighting-made-easy company from Covent Garden, London.
They sell vintage filament bulbs, LED-that-look-like-vintage bulbs, lighting cable, lighting fixtures and lamps with dimmers along with lots of other industrial looking fixtures and homewares. I was lucky enough for them to send me a lamp with twisted brown cable plus a teardrop vintage bulb which are featured in the photos below.
Now let’s talk about the product itself.
The cable is a brown twisted fabric which is 4 metres long. My first thought that it was a good length bearing in mind that the cable would have to run from a plug, up to a hook, curl around a few times fashionably and then hang down.
One of the best features of the lamp is it’s dimmer switch! First of all it’s a nice looking one. A lot of dimmer switches just look ugly – this one is modern & works really effectively. Second of all, a lot of filament bulbs get VERY HOT, VERY QUICKLY and what I enjoy is that you can turn it down so that it’s less overpowering, hot and just bright really. It would be great as a side light, great for reading, that’s how I’m intending on using it anyway…
