As an interior designer, lighting is my nemesis. I seem to be on a never-ending quest to find the perfect light fitting for one spot or another. Recently I’ve started a love-affair with vintage filament bulbs, I like the mix of rough-luxe, contemporary-traditional and the gorgeous soft warm glow. So, it has to be said, I was pretty excited to discover William & Watson. Their range of lighting is super luxe, designed by a small team of creative artists who have created a unique range with authenticity and quality.
My inner geek (and environmentalist) is rather pleased to see an LED range too – great for areas where you need light a bit more regularly as filaments are notoriously inefficient (but beautiful!). Not only are there 16 styles of LED and 19 of vintage filament bulbs to choose from, there’s a selection of pendant rose sets with coloured flexes (obsessed with the bronze!), and also lamp cages for that über industrial look.
Personally, I think this kind of lighting works best in groups – a row over a kitchen counter, or cluster over a dining table looks incredibly stylish.
But for a more pared-back look, a single bulb in place of a desk or bedside lamp is possibly one of the simplest – and coolest – lighting looks around.
