3 ways with WILLIAM & WATSON lighting

 

 

One of the most important things I like to consider when putting the finishing touches to a room is the lighting. Ambient light can transform a room, making it feel cozy and inviting as well as being practical. I was really excited when William & Watson got in touch and asked if I would like to try out one of their vintage style lightbulbs and dimmer set as part of a little styling challenge to show how I would use it in my home. I jumped at the chance as I’v always loved vintage style lightbulbs. I choose the medium Teardrop bulb to use with the black fabric dimmer cable and have styled it in three different ways to share with you.

First of all I thought I would share a few details about the product that I love. Not only does it look really stylish, I LOVE the function of the dimmer switch which allows you to choose between a soft gentle glow where the detail of the filaments can be seen or a bright warm light ideal for evening time. The cable is three metres in length which I found perfect for using in various positions where plug sockets weren’t immediately close by and I really like the antique style finish making this a really lovely product to have at home.

LOOK 1. from the celling

When I saw the product range online I knew straight away it would be perfect to hang along side a collection of monochrome typographic prints I have hanging at the top of our stairs. What I love about exposed decorative bulbs is how effortlessly cool they look with a slightly industrial feel especially when used with a black fabric cable. For this look I have simply screwed a hook into the ceiling above the prints to create more of a feature.

LOOK 2. the reading corner

This is such a simple way of creating a feature or focal point and adding some extra light into a reading corner, also it involves no tools or DIY which is always a good thing. I have used a large bulldog clip to hang the cable from a shelf. Creating a loop and twist in the cable makes it a little more interesting and stops the bulb slipping.

LOOK 3. over a picture frame

This is my favourite of the three looks, I have simply hung the cable over a framed vintage map and styled it with an old rustic chair and floral cushion for a shabby look.
